The start and meaning of the project

Energinet recruited suppliers of underground power cables in the form of a framework agreement from 2017 to 2020. As the cables would be installed throughout Denmark, the customer wanted to select a company with proven quality and stable supply capacity.

LS Cable & System won the contract based on its successful completion of projects in Europe, e.g. the UK 275/132kV project, the Netherlands 380/110kV project, and the Sweden 400kV project. LS Cable & System, which was selected as a preferred supplier, supplied 345km of cables in total by 2020 when the 1^st agreement ends. In particular, it not only supplied products, but also installed cables and accessories.

Safe construction and planned production

LS Cable & System made efforts to meet customer requirements in construction and production. Due to the characteristics of the agreement, the construction could not but be stopped even if the production is delayed just once. LS Cable & System established a meticulous plan in advance over a period of about 8 months after winning the contract.

The production part wholeheartedly accepted the proposed improvement plan during the factory due diligence process and minimized defect risks. It faithfully carried out the requests of the customer with high demands for health and safety. As a result, it could stable make the products without a single quality issue during the project period.

Thanks to easy production, the construction team of LS Cable & System could finish construction within the scheduled period at all construction sites throughout Denmark during the 3-year contract period. In the construction work to install 200km of cables over a period of 1 year or so, LS Cable & System consistently installed about 30km of cables each month without interruption, winning the trust of the customer.

Successfully signing the 2^nd framework agreement

The customer, which entered into a partnership with a Korean company for the first time, showed considerable satisfaction with the performance of LS Cable & System as time passed.

"When the customer dealt with a Korean company for the first time, it had an air of uncertainty. As time passed, however, we made considerably satisfactory results, and at the end of the project, our image was greatly improved, comparing favorably with other European companies."


Energinet project manager

Based on the successful completion of this project, LS Cable & System succeeded in winning the 2^nd Framework Agreement for delivery of 145kV and 170kV cables and accessories. It is planning to install more than 700km of cables in Denmark by 2028.
